We were rearranging the living room and kept dragging the actual sofa around to see if it fit. There had to be a better way, but the floor-plan sites wanted a subscription and an account just to draw a rectangle with a couch in it. Drawing to scale is a grid and some snapping; furniture is labelled boxes. So this lets you sketch the room, watch each wall show its length in metres, drop the sofa and the bed and shuffle them around, and export a picture — all free, all on your laptop. How to draw a plan
- Start from a template — or a blank grid. The first visit opens a measured rectangle room; the ✚ new button also offers an L-shape and a furnished studio flat. Reshape, or clear and trace your own.
- Trace the walls. Wall tool, click each corner — it snaps to the grid, a live length rides beside the cursor, and clicking the first dot closes the loop into a room.
- Make the lengths exact. In Move mode, tap a wall and type its true length (3.2, 340 cm, 10' 6") — the wall re-scales to match. Switch the units button between metres and feet+inches any time.
- Cut in doors & windows. Pick door or window, hover a wall to preview, click to set it in. Drag the end handles to size it, slide the body along, flip a door's hinge or swing with ⇄, or type an exact width.
- Furnish it. Eighteen pieces at real-world sizes — beds to bath, plus a staircase and a kitchen counter run — drag, rotate, and pull the corner handle to resize.
- Read the rooms. Every closed loop of walls is named and measured, with a total-area chip by the toolbar. Click a room's name to rename it.
- Export. A sharp 2× PNG, a vector SVG, or a to-scale PDF at 1:50 / 1:100 — or copy a link that carries the whole plan.

Planning questions
Can I do an exact survey plan?
This is for quick, to-scale sketches — rearranging a room, a rental layout, planning furniture. For construction drawings you'd want full CAD; for everyday planning, this is faster and free.
How do I type an exact wall length?
In Move mode, tap any wall — a little box appears on it. Type the length the tape measure gave you (3.2, 340 cm, or 10' 6") and press Enter; the far end of the wall moves so the length is exact, and any walls joined to that corner follow so the room stays sealed.
Metres or feet?
Both. The units button flips every label between metres and feet+inches — 3.5 m becomes 11′ 6″ — and areas flip between m² and ft². Your choice is remembered, and the grid scale offers round numbers in whichever unit you're in.
How do I fix a mistake?
Delete removes whatever is selected — furniture, an opening, or a wall run. Undo and redo walk through everything, including loading a template. Clear starts over. Drag furniture any time in Move mode.
Do the doors really cut the walls?
They do. A ghost of the opening rides the wall under your cursor; click and the wall's lines part right there, so the gap looks like a proper opening rather than a symbol pasted on top. The door draws its leaf and swing (the ⇄ chip flips which jamb it hangs from and which way it opens); the window draws its double glazing line. Grab either square end to widen or narrow it — a chip shows the width as you go — and it stays clamped inside its wall, clear of its neighbours.
How are the room areas found?
The tool reads your walls as a connected web — ends that meet are joined, and a wall ending against another wall splits it there. Any closed circuit in that web is a room: it gets a soft tint, a name you can click to change, and its floor area from your scale. The chip by the toolbar totals every room.
Can I print it to scale?
Yes — print PDF gives you a proper 1:50 or 1:100 drawing on A4 or Letter, with a scale bar, the wall lengths, room names and a footer noting the total area and grid scale, so a ruler on the paper reads the real distance. Walls print as slim double lines, doors and windows as their arcs and glazing, furniture as its plan symbols.
